Nick J. Palazzetti

Nick PalazzettiNick J. Palazzetti has served as a senior consultant with 501(c)(3)² for five years. During this time, he has assisted numerous nonprofit organizations with fundraising, board development and training, educational program monitoring and evaluation, needs assessments, development and marketing studies, performance monitoring, and demographic trend analysis. Nick possesses 27 years of diverse development experience, as well as more than 16 years of work in adult education, administration, and social services.

As Executive Director of the Three Rivers Community Foundation in Pittsburgh, Nick is responsible for oversight of all aspects of the Foundation’s operations including administration and staff supervision, grant making, fundraising, outreach, and public relations and marketing. Nick works closely with the working committees of the Board of Directors to ensure effective operation of the Foundation and strategic, planned organizational growth. For two years he also served as the Foundation’s designated national board representative of The Funding Exchange in New York City, of which the Three Rivers Community Foundation is a member fund. He currently serves as a member of the Legacy Committee of The Funding Exchange.

Previously, in his role with The Bentz Group, a national Fund Counsel Firm, Nick served as resident campaign director for multi-million dollar capital campaigns at the Ella Sharp Museum in Jackson, Michigan; the Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania; the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center in Enid, Oklahoma; and as a consultant to several other capital and endowment campaigns nationally. He also has performed development audits and pre-campaign leadership planning studies for other institutional clients.

Nick has also served as Director of Development and Planned Giving for PennFuture in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a statewide public policy research and advocacy organization devoted to improving Pennsylvania’s environment and economy. In Pittsburgh, he was formerly:

  • Vice President of Institutional Development for The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust
  • Executive Director for The Bayer Foundation
  • Senior Development Officer for the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium

 
Nick holds Certified Fund Raising Executive status, a distinction awarded by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. He earned his PhD in Curriculum and Supervision from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Arts in English Literature from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh.

A resident of southwestern Pennsylvania, Nick has served on the boards of directors of several nonprofit organizations and has been a member of the Team Pennsylvania Ambassador Program.

He is an avid golfer and skier, reads extensively, and enjoys traveling.
